ShoeShine on 66 – Journey of a Lifetime.

Day 8: Chicago, IL

20 Jul

WE MADE IT. After a whirlwind eight days, we said goodbye to the Mother Road. Not one of us could have predicted the people we were to meet on the road and the ways in which the road would change us. SHOUT OUTS TO ALL OUR PEOPLE!!!! Thanks to everyone who gave us words of advice along the way! Thanks to all our blollowers… we will try and keep real like as interesting as life on the road! Stay tuned, more adventures to come!!

Love,

Kelly, Madison, Faith

Day 8: Joliet, IL

20 Jul

Stopped in the Joliet Route 66 Museum and Gift Shop and met Jim Bush, who has been featured in Route 66 magazine for his AMAZING Mother Road tattoo!

Day 8: Wilmington, IL

20 Jul

Stopped to get some ice cream and see another one of the Bunyon Statues, The Gemini Giant!!

Day 8: Gardner, IL

20 Jul

Stopped for a quick drink of water!

Day 8: Atlanta, IL

20 Jul

Lots of great jokes made in ATLANTA, IL!! We got a wonderful lunch to go and saw the GIANT Bunyon statue with a hot dog! These men (there are a few on the route) were originally all made to be Paul Bunyon holding an ax, though other companies bought them and put other things in place of the ax (like a hot dog here!).

Day 8: Springfield, IL

20 Jul

Last day on the road! With Chicago on the horizon, we made our way through Illinois. First stop was at the boyhood home of ol Abe Lincoln!

Day 7: Saint Louis, MO

20 Jul

We spent our last night on the road with Chris and Molly Bell in Saint Louis! We met them at a free Gavin Degraw concert and had a great time! Thanks x 20394 for the incredible hospitality!!

Day 7: Ash Grove, MO

17 Jul

Stopped to see the legendary Gary Turner! What a character… We hope we haven’t seen the last of him. Love Sneaky Eyes, the Actress, and Special Cloud.
